THE BEST OF THE BEST FROM ACROSS THE ALPS
Welcome to the MFA Hall Of Fame, where our favourite moments, performances and films from across the MFA network are celebrated in all their glory.
live: Team rides onto stage on a mountain bike to end their film
FILM: PIZZA PEDALS AND POW BY TDC SKI, PIZZA NICK & STARTLINE MTB
We’ve never seen anything like this before - a LIVE ending to a film at the Tignes Film Awards Premiere Night! This team’s film was an epic montage of skiers, drivers and bikers delivering pizza all over Tignes. At the end of their film a biker rides towards the Tignespace with a pizza. The team rode onto stage on a mountain bike just after this clip, ending their film live on stage, throwing our pizza boxes to the crowd. EPIC.
ALEX JERVIS WINS BEST ACTOR
FILM: JERRY JERVIS REPORTS - JAM SOCIETY
This iconic, transformative role shot Alex into the Morzine limelight in 2018, wowing the crowds with his hilarious ability to keep a straight face. The story follows a veteran news reporter as he investigates the local “can-demic” of Lager Lager on the slopes of Morzine. Since his big break Alex has not graced us with another leading role, only a brief cameo in Crack Dem Crew’s 2019 film, Mis’Taken. We can only hope he’s planning an explosive return to the big screen soon.
OUR FIRST EVER CHAMPIONS
FILM: WHAT I REMEMBER - RAPTURE
As the red carpet was rolled out for the first ever Mountain Film Awards no one knew what to expect. Would the films be any good? Would anyone actually make a film? Well, they did, and the level of filmmaking was outstanding. The Rapture crew blew us away with their mind bending hyper-lapses, epic transitions, insane riding and of course, a banging soundtrack. Put your headphones on for this one.
LOCAL INSPIRATION
PHOTO: FREDDO & LOU
If you know Freddo then you know the story. In January 2019 Fred sent it off cliff in Avoriaz and broke his back, leaving him paralysed from the waste down. Just two months later here he is at The Morzine Film Awards representing his team. Yep - that’s right! Freddo not only attended the night, he also starred in a film and his performance was one of the greatest we’ve ever seen; playing the part of a disheveled genius who comes up with a masterful plan to save Morzine from Gnarmageddon. You can watch it here.
the people have spoken
FILM: gnar warS - shredits media
In 2018 the people of Morzine chose this film as their favourite, awarding it ‘The People’s Choice’. If you’re going to spoof the greatest movie franchise ever made, you better be able to back it up. GNAR WARS had everything - lightsabers, unreal snowboarding, a murderous gang of skiers and a heart-wrenching ending. But the biggest question on everyone’s minds is will they make a sequel? To be continued…
LIVE reaction to gnarmageddon
FILM: GNARMAGEDDON - shredits media
This live clip taken from the premiere night of Morzine Film Awards 2019 pretty much sums up the entire event. What happens when you fill a room with locals and celebrate them like they are movie stars? This.
GREAT SUCCESS IN MORZINE
FILM: ZORAT - ROOSTACHE CREW
If you’ve seen BORAT then you almost know what to expect, but what does Morzine have to offer the quirky, clueless Zorat from Roostistan? This side-splitting spoof of one of the movie industry’s most embarrassing box office smash hits won our first ever summer festival. Watch as Roostistan’s national treasure, Zorat, navigates the streets and trails of Morzine.
DANGER! HIGH VOLTAGE!
DANGER! HAUTS FORTS - THE BACKPACK CREW
There’s nothing better than an MFA film that the entire crowd can sing along to. This, paired with incredible cinematography, acting, costumes and riding is a winning formula. Christian Boyd was awarded Best Actor in 2019 for his steamy leading role in this epic music video.
GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS
FILM: MANZINE (BOYZ) - CLITDROP
We love it when we get all-girl crews showing the boys how it’s done. But no one did it better than the Clitdrop crew. Mountain Biking is a very male-dominated sport, but not here. These girls can rip down a trail and send jumps bigger than most of the ‘boyz’ in man-zine.
