THANK YOU TIGNES, Here’s to the first of many!
The inaugural Tignes Film Awards went off with a bang as Tignes and Val D’Isere came together to throw an epic party that is sure to live on in Tignes legend for years to come!
Hundreds of senders, shredders, party people and aficionados of art house cinema came together to celebrate everything great about their resort in the most epic venue in the valley - The Tignespace.
In total twenty films were entered, an incredible achievement for the first year of the event. It’s always hard to get a new event off the ground but the Tignes community fully embraced the event and made it their own.
Hosts Sam and Killian from Tignes’ very own party crew The Cold Fizzy Club, along with Gauvin from Planks Clothing, were the hosts for the night, keeping the laughs coming until the early hours.
Upon arrival ticket holders were greeted by an incredible stage and decor that really helped set the tone for the evening - the glamour of Hollywood with the looseness that Tignes is known for. And Tignes did not disappoint on the second count, as everyone went full turbo and redefined what ski resort send should look like.
This is not to suggest that Tignes is nothing but drunken debauchery. Four hundred and fifty euros was also raised for Brothers of Tignes, a mental health charity.
An undoubted highlight of the night was live pizza delivery by Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un for the film Pizza Pedals and Pow, winners of the Best Director. In the same film, Joe Harkess absolutely ripped through the avalanche barriers down the Lavechet wall to deliver a pizza, winning him the Biggest Send award.
The standard has been set now and Tignes and Val D’Isere seasonaires and locals now know what they have to beat next year. The community came together for an incredible night and everyone will be keen to see what they can deliver next year.We are proud to say that although the resort closed early, Tignes ended the winter in style.
